What is Torchshare?

Torchshare is a social media app that will enable you to record and celebrate the life of your loved ones as well as connect with other users for help and your purpose.

What is the purpose of Torchshare?

Building communities – both, past and present. Building a diary of every life lived and connecting those still living for pursuits in a community of interest that may be inspired by the past or their own life purpose.

What is the vision of Torchshare?

Torchshare envisions providing users a platform to record every live lived for posterity and to connect people to build better connected and helpful communities. Our vision to be the platform of choice for people to find voluntary work and to work on their life purpose anywhere in the world.

How is the Torchshare app structured?

There are two main areas in navigation pane – Life Stories & Torches. The third area is in top left line menu, where content relating to the user can be accessed.

• User profile enables you to record your own life in text as well as audio.
• Life Stories relate to celebrating the lives of those who have passed.
• Torches relate to doing something for others or for your life purpose.

What you can do with Torchshare?

• Write your own story – in text and audio file.
• create the Life story of your passed loved one, enable others to add their tributes/memories and celebrate their life.
• Connect with other like-minded people with a common goal to do something good and positive for the world.
• Work on your own purpose in life.

What are Life Stories?

A Life Story on Torchshare is a chronical of life of a person who has passed through the eyes of their loved one who survives them. It is written by someone close to the person who passed away, someone who knows intimately their date of birth, date of passing, their interests, their achievements, what was important to them etc. It is meant to commemorate their personality traits and contributions which are treasured and remembered by others.

Who can create a life story?

Can I control the content in my loved one’s Life Story

Yes, you control the content on the Life Story created by you.

once you have a created a life story, other users who knew this person can post their memories as well as add tributes to build a narrative of their life. However, none of that content will get posted till you approves that content. Even after a tribute gets posted, the creator can delete that post if that is not suitable with the narrative desired by the creator.

What privacy controls are there?

There are three levels of visibility/privacy:

• Only me
• My Friends
• Public (visible to all Torchshare users)

The default setting is “My Friends” making your content visible to all your friends.

What are Tributes

A tribute may be a cherished memory, an interaction or just a commemorative note that a user can write about someone they knew who has since passed away. Due to the nature of app, derogatory or disrespectful comments are NOT acceptable.

Can I add a Tribute to a Life story created by me

Yes, you can. This is especially relevant in response to other people’s comments tributes for this life story so that a positive conversation can happen around that life.

Can any Torchshare user write their comments by adding a Tribute on the Life Story created by me?

Yes, any user can write a tribute for any story on Torchshare. However, that tribute will only be published after the creator of that Life Story approves the content of that tribute.

What are ‘Torches’?

A torch work that is undertaken by a person or organisation akin to a baton that a user picks up to do something for the community.

There can be three types of Torches, for the user themselves, for their loved one or for an organisation:

My Torch: a user may create a Torch to seek help from others or to provide help to others.

For a Life Story: This is a baton that a user picks up to commemorate the life of their loved one. It may be an activity, or a piece of work related to an area/activity that was dear to your loved one. It may be something that they did, were doing or wanted to do but could not undertake during their lifetime. e.g., a user may create a “Torch” to provide maths tuitions for disadvantaged children in memory of their loved one, who was a teacher and used to provide such a service in their local community.

For an organisation: organisations can create torches to enable users to achieve objectives for welfare of their patrons. e.g. Defence services may have a torch to do something for veterans or those who laid down their lives in the service of country. Blood banks may raise a torch to seek blood donations. As Torchshare provides location-based information, blood banks could realise quick responses for emergency needs in their local areas.

What is the purpose of creating a Torch?

The purpose of creating a Torch can be to commemorate the life of your loved one, whose story you have created on Torchshare, to seek or provide help, to realise an organisations benevolent goals or to work on your own life purpose.

Can another user join a Torch created by me?

Yes, they can.

In fact, that is the underlying objective of Torchshare. To connect more and more people in the local community for working together on common goals

Should I join an existing Torch or create a new one?

Torches are created or joined to achieve goals and undertake work that is meaningful to a user. The best chances of realising those goals arise when people work together in a community of interest. As Torchshare is uniquely location and category based, you can easily check existing Torches in your local area, check their goals, connect with Torch creators to know more and finally work together in case of common goals. If you join an existing Torch, you can still allocate that Torch to commemorate your loved one as well.

If I join a Torch that has been created by another user, can I use the same Torch for my own loved one’s Life Story?

Yes, you can attach that Torch to the Life Story of your loved one. Once you have attached that Torch to your own loved one’s story, if you go into that Life Story and click on Torches, that Torch will then be indicated on your loved one’s Life Story to show you are undertaking some work in your loved one’s memory for the realisation of those Torch goals

Can I link a page from other social media to my Torch?

Yes, you can include a link from other social media e.g., a Facebook / Instagram page etc in your Torch so that whatever work is done through other social media in relation to that Torch can also be viewed.

Can I share a Life Story or Torch with those who are not Torchshare users?

You can share a Life Story or Torch with friends on other social media by pressing the “Share” tab in respective screens.

How can I connect with other Torchshare users?

• You can send Friend request any other Torchshare user. Once accepted by them you can do instant messaging to them.
• If you wish to connect with a Torch creator to know more about a Torch, you can instant message them through the tab ‘Start conversation with Torch creator’

Can I invite friends from other social media apps to Torchshare?

Yes, a user can invite others to the Torchshare app by clicking the “Invite” tab in navigation pane and send a link to their contacts through a variety of means.

What if I want to deactivate my account?

You can deactivate your account by going into settings and selecting “Deactivate”. By doing so, your account will be deactivated. However, content created by you will still be available for viewing as per your privacy settings.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account by going into Settings and selecting “Delete’. Once you delete your account content created by you will still be available for view for 10 days. After 10 days this content will be deleted from Torchshare. Note that you will NOT be able to create account on Torchshare again.

Is my data safe on Torchshare?

Torchshare app has been developed by qualified and experienced app developers and all content is hosted on secure AWS servers.

What will it cost me to use Torchshare?

The objective of Torchshare is to celebrate life, promote helping and enable users to work on their purpose in life. We believe there should be no cost associated with this.

Torchshare is a FREE app. There is no cost to a user for using Torchshare.
